New Classes for Spring 2025

The Charlotte Street Arts Centre (CSAC) has announced new classes for spring 2025.  CSAC’s first classes for the coming season includes a few returning classes, back by popular demand, along with a few brand new offerings.

DIY Filmmaking 101 with Ashley Dale & Kayleigh Saad

Wednesdays April 16 - May 21 (six weeks) | 6-8 p.m. | Community Room

If you've ever wanted to make your own movie but thought, "dang, that's probably expensive", then DIY Filmmaking is for you. Over six weeks, we'll cover the whole process: from storyboards and set design, to filming and post production. By the end, you'll have made your own no budget short film from start to finish. Students 16+

Rug Hooking with Katie Hamill

Tuesdays: April 22 - May 27 (six weeks) | 6-8 p.m. | Community Room

Join yarn lover Katie Hamill on Tuesday nights this winter to learn the craft of rug hooking! Choose a design, learn to make your own, or both! After this class you'll have the skills and instruments you need to continue making hooked rugs on your own.  All materials are provided!

Paint & Sip with Emily Chase

Friday April 25 | 7-9 p.m.

Join host facilitator Emily Chase for an evening of painting and conversation with friends old and new. Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere as Emily guides you and your friends in creating your own unique painting based on a seasonal theme. Each ticket includes a complimentary beverage of choice. Pilates & Movement for 55+ with Dr. Zsuzsanna Szabo-Nyarady

Monday mornings May 5 - June 16 (six weeks) | 10:30-11:30 a.m. | Jim Myles Auditorium

Morning Pilates at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre focuses on total body muscle engagement. Each session will focus on movements, variations and additional challenges to basic exercises. You will be led to work on balance, flexibility, strength and muscular endurance, using mainly your own body weight. This class is designed for students 55+ but all are welcome. A yoga mat is required.

Telling Stories in Gouache and Watercolour with Eva Christensen

Saturdays May 10 - June 14 (six weeks) | 1-3:30 p.m. | Community Room

Join artist Eva Christensen for a six-week journey exploring personal storytelling through gouache and watercolour. This course builds on basic watercolour knowledge to help you expand your artistic practice. Through guided instruction, you'll learn Eva's process for transforming personal photographs into meaningful paintings that capture cherished moments and memories.

Capturing Tales: The Power of Narrative Through Photography

Mondays: May 12 - June 9 (five weeks) | 6-8 p.m. | Community Room

Join Ramneet Kalra to explore the intersection between poetry and photography. With a strong background in creative writing and visual storytelling, Ramneet has designed a program to help students express themselves through words and images. This course will encourage participants to develop their artistic voices, enhance observational skills, and create compelling narratives through these powerful medium
