Jam Sesh is an activity aimed at girls, transgendered youth, and gender creative youth to further their skills and understanding of playing in a band. We provide participants with drums, basses, guitars, and keyboards. Jam Sesh meets once a month and happens through the year!
The Shivering Songs Songwriter’s Intensive offers a professional development opportunity for emerging musicians in New Brunswick. In collaboration with the Shivering Songs Festival, we invite a nationally acclaimed songwriter to engage in collaborative work with a group of a dozen emerging singer/songwriters from New Brunswick.
The Afro-Vibes Dance Classes will provide an opportunity for cultural exploration and appreciation, allowing individuals of all ages to connect with the rhythms and sounds of Africa. Beyond the sheer enjoyment of movement, the workshop fosters an understanding of the historical and cultural contexts embedded in African dance forms.
Launching this spring, Faster Than Light presents a series of photography workshops tailored for newcomer youth in collaboration with The Multicultural Association of Fredericton. Guided by a professional photographer, these workshops aim to cover essential photography skills, including composition, framing, movement, time, and post-process editing.
The Spirit Project Junior Summer Camp is a one-week extravaganza where teens with and without intellectual and/or physical disabilities, Autism and/or dual diagnosis can come together to flex their artistic muscles, make new friends, and celebrate the start of summer. Over the course of the week participants will play games, sing, dance, make art and more importantly build friendships and have a blast. The camp is offered by Solo Chicken in partnership with The Charlotte Street Arts Centre and The TNB Theatre School and will take place in the beautiful Charlotte Street Arts Centre Auditorium.
Girls+ Rock is a week-long camp for girls, trans, and gender-creative youth aged 12-17 to learn instruments, write songs and rock out on stage. Campers participate in instrument instruction, gear set-up and band practice where they collaborate with their band and write an original song. No musical experience is required and campers of all skill levels will get to choose their instrument of either guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, or vocals, all under the guidance of femme and gender-creative musician mentors and community arts facilitators. Campers will also take part in a variety of music and non-music workshops centered around creativity and confidence-building such as song-writing, screen printing, positive self-image, and identity discussions. Camp will be happening from August 12-17 at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre.
Formerly known as the New Brunswick Musicians Emerge Festival, FEST FORWARD is aimed at moving NB musicians forward by providing useful professional development opportunities as they are embarking on their music careers. The goal of FEST FORWARD is to foster connectivity and creativity for participating musicians and to provide an experience that will accelerate their growth and development as artists. Musicians work with seasoned veterans of the music industry via practical and skill-building workshops and participate in a professional photoshoot and recording session.
