‘Smoke Signals and Radio Waves’ is a collection of minimalist 2”x2” prints by Campbellton based artist Maurice Cormier. It will occupy the Penny Gallery.
‘Love this Town’ is a collection of watercolour works that aim to celebrate Fredericton and show it in a different light. The series was created by Fredericton based artist Eva Christensen. It will occupy the Charlotte Glencross Gallery.
Artist Bio: Maurice Cormier
Originally from Shediac New-Brunswick, Maurice discovered art as a young child browsing through his father’s encyclopedias. Simple black and white tiny lithographs on mat and slightly yellowed paper will furthermore remain strong influences.
While he pursued his artistic endeavors, he also spent many years working in factories and on production lines. The sound of machinery, repetition and patterns left a definite mark which to this day still influences his artistic output.
Moving to Campbellton NB in 2013, he is struck by the contrast in terrain compared to the southern part of the province where fields and valleys are replaced by mountains and rivers.
Maurice has held many solo and group art exhibits and has also worked on book illustrations and various other visual projects. He considers himself to be an emerging artist and currently lives in Campbellton, New Brunswick.
