Asian Heritage Month celebrations

Please join us for our annual Asian Heritage Month celebrations in Fredericton. This year our featured community is Chinese-Canadians.
The Opening Ceremony takes place Tuesday, May 7, from noon-1 p.m. in the lobby of the Fredericton Centennial Building on 670 King St. This event launches Asian Heritage Month and opens our Explor/Asians Exhibition on Chinese-Canadian History and Contributions. Join us for welcoming remarks from dignitaries, performances from the Chinese Cultural Association of NB, Asian finger foods and a cake cutting ceremony. The Exhibition will be open for public viewing until May 31 during business hours.
The Asian Heritage Cultural Gala takes place Sunday, May 26 at the Fredericton Playhouse from 7-9 p.m. This year we are pleased to feature artists from the Montreal Center of Chinese Culture and Arts, who will present a fantastic showcase of Chinese dance and music, in addition to exciting performances from our local Asian artists.
Admission to both events is free.
Organized by Asian Heritage Society of NB, located in the Charlotte Street Arts Centre.

May the Fourth be with You, A Star Wars Day celebration with Live Lightsaber Competition hosted by East Coast Sabers.
Doors open at 6pm.
Cost is $6 at the door, or $5 if you sign up to enter the competition.

Film Screening by Cinema Politica

Cinema Politica Fredericton will screen Budrus at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre’s Multi-Purpose Room on May 2nd at 7:00pm. The short films, Samouni Street and Gaza Did You Know, will be screened before the feature film. Budrus tells the story of a father and daughter who unleash an inspiring non-violent resistance movement to the occupation of Palestine.
